Name: Sura
Age: 8
Gender: Mare
Height: 16.1 hh
Breed: Marwari
Species: Unicorn
Appearance: Sura's golden coat is interrupted by black spots that cover her entire body. The spots that adorn her face are small and somewhat blurred in comparison to the larger more pronounced spots that cover the rest of her body. Her ears are delicate, the tips curved inward as is the trait of the proud Marwari breed. Her eyes are of the warmest caramel color, kind and understanding most often, yet can become cold and harsh when the time calls for it. From the inside corners of her eyes she bears the proud marking of the cheetah. The black streaks follow the curve of her cheek and taper until they fade away completely. Upon each leg she wears black stockings that end just above the hock and knee. Her hooves are dark and well worn due to her travel over rough terrain. The mare is not without her share of scars. On her shoulders she proudly wears the claw marks from an attack she suffered from a cougar. She has similar marks on her haunches from the same cougar. At the base of her, hidden beneath a lock of her mane, is the puncture wound from where the cat bit her in it's attempt to kill her.
Personality: All if her life Sura has been called a 'tomboy' by those who knew her. Being the only child of the original rulers of her herd she was taken under her father's wing and taught from a young age what it was to be a ruler. Because of this she is of a militaristic mindset. She understand the importance of a good defense and an even better offense. As a result she learned to fight at a young age and can often be harsh on those who she trains. She is quick to point out flaws and not so quick to compliment anyone unless she feels they have truly earned it. Sura is not always harsh, though. She is willing to help those in need in her herd without expecting anything in return from them. She is quick to judge those she doesn't know but is not adverse to changing her opinion when proven wrong. Her trust is not easily gained but it is easily lost by those she feels betrays her. Once her trust is gained she is a strong ally and will not back down when it comes to helping. Once her trust is lost, however, she is a dangerous enemy and should not be taken lightly.
History: Sura was still relatively young when she stepped into the role as the Eastern Queen. Her parents had ruled for many years and the land had flourished under their reign. They, however, were tired and wanted to spend their days relaxing and spending time with one another rather than worry over the land. Their daughter was strong and independent and had learned well under the teaching of her father.
She had not been in her Queen position for long when the fighting broke out in the Northern, Southern, and Western Herds. The mare readied her warriors should the others decide to take their fighting to her doorstep.
The fighting never did reach the Eastern Herd. Sura allowed her warriors to rest, but she never did take her attention away from the other herds. If they were all fighting they way they were then she was almost positive that one of them would target her herd. If they did target her herd then they wouldn't find her unprepared. With that thought in mind Sura, again, readied her warriors and had them stand watch over the herd.
While her warriors stood watch the Queen began training guards. The guards were an elite force that were designed to be the front line of defense for her herd. Once the guards were trained they were placed around the herd's borders. The warriors were then pulled back and stationed around the heart of the territory. Scouts relayed information back and forth between the guards, warriors, and the queen.
When the fight finally did come to her doorstep she was prepared for it. What she wasn't prepared for was the sheer numbers they were facing. Her warriors and guards stood their ground and fought valiantly. Many of them died in the fray, some were taken prisoner, and some just vanished.
The fight was long and bloody and resulted in the collapse of the Eastern Herd. Sura was banished from the land she had grown up in. She could not bear to watch her herdland be destroyed by the ones that took it from her so she fled, eventually finding her way to Helovia.
