Helovia's New Location!

Hello all,

As you may have noticed, I have been absent. Apart from illness and the fact that my horse has been to the vet almost four times in the past few months, I have been working hard on the new site location. Proboards has always even just been a stepping stone to a new server and host. At first, the host was not working, but now it is running smoothly and brilliantly.

I am happy to announce that the site should be completed and ready to move onto by MAY 28th for the beta introduction. Everything will be the same except for brand new features. Helovia is getting an upgrade.

That said, I want some feedback from all of you guys. So, if you could answer the following questions, that would be amazing.



1. Do you want to move onto the new site with this layout, or should we have a contest for a new banner image and unveil the new site with a shiny layout?

2. Do you prefer the table at the top of the layout with updates, welcome bar and seasons, or do you prefer the sidebar?

3. Do you prefer the cbox at the bottom or at the side in a sidebar?

4. Should the unveiling of the new site also unveil a new sitewide plot?

5. Are there any changes you wish to see?


INFORMATION ABOUT THE NEW SERVER

• Will accept both BBC and HTML coding
  
• The Information will be in a permanent sidebar (not folding)
  
• Character information will be in an individual profile
  
• The layout, for now, will stay as this one with a summer contest to quickly succeed
  
• Cbox will be in a sidebar
  
• Herdland information will be in a tabbed table above the board
  
• Avatar size will stay 110 x 220 pixels
  
• The new site is hosted by Rackspace, so we have unlimited bandwidth and zero downtime!

I, honestly, usually forget about the sidebar completely. xP
I feel like it is a good idea, but we should still have a welcome bar for newcomers until they get adjusted.

I believe so. Activity in the Order, while it has plenty of members, is low.

Everything else seems to be running smoothly.

I kinda like it being at the bottom, though it wouldn't bother me if it was moved to the sidebar.

I really liked the idea of the Order of the Sun, but seeing as it hasn't really taken off yet, I'd say yes. A new plot would be nice.

None that I can think of, but I do like the idea of having a foal directory like Krazie suggested.

I LOVELOVELOVE this layout, but I think a new one would be refreshing--I am a believer in frequent layout change, like every season lol

While I positively LOVE the current banner/layout(one of my favourites,I think its gorgeous/am obsessed) I would not be opposed to a new layout to hail in the new and brilliantly awesome era of proboards-free Helovia

Well, I liked how it was on Isilme but I really hate this little pop-out thingy because I never remember its there and can spend like 30 min looking for rules or something only to remember, "OH, yes, this little pop out thingy over here" I mean, lovely invention for conveniences sake but for absentminded people it tends to suck.lol

You know, I'm finding I love having it at the bottom. I understand why others have said at the side but I like having the c-box bigger and wider at the bottom. Its more spread out and easier to read.

Well, I think the Order does seem to be at a fairly firm standstill so perhaps there could be a new plot, though maybe it could be a little less serious to start with to get everyone active? Like something really funny or entertaining and then move to a serious deep plot. That way everyones already going and geared up?

Not particularly, just the death of the silly pop-out sidebar...but thats just me.haha. =p and even then I could still live with it.lol...oh maybe to have the horsie images at the top of the character page instead of at the bottom? -shrugs- idk

(also, I'm extremely tired atm so if I seem rambly or odd assume it was the tiredness.lol)

I don't mind either way honestly, the colours and layout of the current one are lovely at the moment and would be fine to continue using, but sometimes a new look is refreshing too.

Once again indifferent, I am used to the way they function for now, but I am quite flexible and easy.

This one I definitely prefer at the bottom.

Hmm. Perhaps not a completely new plot, but the next step for the current plot - Just a sitewide announcement of what is going on so that we can actually wrap up the current plot and then move on. I don't like leaving things unfinished.

Just wondering for the new site whether both HTML and BBcode will be functional for tables and such - doesn't bother either way though

Awesome news Tamme! Let me know if there's something I can do to help. I don't want to make any promises as this is the first time I've been on the computer in a few days x.x but If I can help transfer things or what have you.

I really like this layout. I'd prefer the admin put resources into finishing other things, than making a new layout right away too, that can always come after.

I prefer the side bar, less cluttered, maybe just make it more noticeable for new people? idk

Either or, just if it is a side one that floats with you as you scroll up and down a page, please make it collapse able. I kinda like it on the bottom because it is wider and it's less distracting to me.

Sad to say the order never did take off =/ But as with Whit I'd like to see it's plot wrapped up some how. It might just be more of a story book wrap up rather than In Character though since literally nothing has happened. Would also recommend with Illu doing a 'nice' site wide plot for now, rather than death and destruction.

-shifty eyes- hopefully soon I'll finish the Trading and FAQ. I do wanna see all our icons finished though, and the history and map.

Yes! Not that I don't love this one, but I am a firm believer in frequent layout change.

I think I like the sidebar? Though I like the current distribution with the welcome up top and other on the side.

Urk, perhaps. As much as I love the order of the sun, it takes a very specific character to be a part of it, and a lot of people I think don't want to play that character.

Uh.... no? I don't think so. Well, maybe an Others system, though with such varied companions I'm not sure it's necessary.
