*new to RP'ing*
A lost mare wanders through the outskirts of Helovia, her coat black and eyes golden. She is small and young, and shows exhaustion in each faltering step.
In this twilight hour, Daenerys casts a long shadow. Unhindered by the shapes of trees and brush, the dying sunlight carves her figure cleanly into the small clearing. Beneath her lies a water-bed deep to her knees. She drinks, and watches her surroundings. Lost and barely a mare, she is rightly afraid.
A branch breaks in the distance, and the sound of it cracking makes her tense. If she stays by the waterside, she reasons, she has a greater chance of finding other horses than if she continues to wander. Though against her skittish nature, she decides to wait a while before moving on. Perhaps, here in the wilderness of Helovia, she would find home.

The tobiano mare trotted easily along the pathway toward the Threshold. The Throat had gotten mighty quiet, with no real sight of anyone about for a while. Even the great Emissary of the land had gone missing. Still, the pegasus was not entirely alone. Now, she had a little fluttering body soaring along beside her, chirping and cooing occasionally, but most of the communication between the two others could not hear.
Lyhty had joined Onni's side not long ago when she rescued her egg from what would have been a tumultuous fall from the Frozen Arch. Since, the mare spent most of her time adjusting to sharing thoughts and emotions with others. For someone who had been lonely for long periods of time, it was a dream come true for the painted mare. Even if the little finch could not yet speak directly, the emotions they felt together were more than enough for Onni to form a warm, heartfelt connection for the little bird.
Together they crossed the border into the Threshold, reminding the mare of the days she had spent standing out here, waiting for a familiar face to arrive from the east. Few came, much to her sorrow. The friendly and warm face she had hoped to greet never made his appearance. Still, it was best not to dwell on fallen comrades, not when there were newcomers to welcome.
A jaunty step guided her forward, past the pine trees and the shrubbery, until Onni comes to a break in the monotony of the forest entry to Helovia. Water, she notes to herself, and Lyhty chirps happily in response. The poor thing does seem thirsty. Together they step out of the underbrush and into the fading light, just in time for Onni's pale blue eyes to meet a darker body.
A mare, standing in the middle of the water, eyes gleaming a bright color.
"Hello, there," Onni greets her pleasantly, as if it had not surprised both she and her companion to find a body in such a place. "I am Onni, and this is my friend Lyhty," she says, nodding her head in the direction of the bird which hovers nervously next to the tobiano.

The light sound of hooves marked the approach of a winged, painted mare.
"I am Onni, and this is my friend Lyhty,"
With the mare was a small bird - a finch. Her decision to rest and wait was correct - she had found another horse! Or been found, rather. Despite the other mare's apparent calmness, the bird appeared as wary of Daenerys as she herself felt towards these strangers. She surprised herself by keeping enough courage to stay. The mare was a Pegasus! A unique equine with the wings of a bird. Although she knew that Pegasi existed, in her short youth she had never personally come across one before. Onni was as exciting as she was frightening and different, and a symbol of everything 'other' in comparison to the sheltered life she had drifted from.
Realising she was taking up the watering hole, she left to approach the new mare, feeling a chill set in her wet legs as they met the cool night air. "Hello, Onni. I am Daenerys." She studied the mare's unusual patched markings, and her stance. "Are you of a herd?"
*sorry for change of tense.

The nervously fluttering bird came to rest upon Onni's shoulder, peering out with its masked face toward the newcomer as she spoke. Lyhty did not appear so easy to trust others like his larger companion. The finch finds the serene mental state of the mare to be a good sign, and the other one seems more frightened than he. Still, the spotted bird stays perched on Onni's shoulder, looking out just as before.
The tobiano mare, on the other hand, smiles brightly at the newcomer to this land. Just like in the days before the fall of her home, Onni was still friendly and loved the company of others. She thrived to create a sort of peace between strangers, and often gave away much more information and trust than really necessary. This mare the winged pair had stumbled upon seemed friendly enough.
"Daenerys," she repeats aloud, feeling the name at the top of her mouth for practice. "A lovely name." The next question took her a bit by surprise, but the painted mare showed no sign of it. After all, it was difficult being out on your own, and who stands on the entry way of a land with no intent to enter?
"I am of the Dragon's Throat herd," she says proudly, her girlish voice taking on a lighter note. "Sun Physician." The power to heal had come to her upon entering the land, which is why she decided to stay. Her true loyalties, however, were to her mother. Perhaps, if this lady were to become her friend she would divulge this to her, but for caution she rarely exhibited, Onni kept quiet.
"Are you in need of a home?"

"Oh, I am!"
How wonderful! After ages of travel, she had found another herd! She knew of Dragon's Throat, though not too well. She should have guessed the mare wasn't wandering as was Daenerys. As Lyhty rested on Onni's shoulder, Daen felt very alone. The emptiness of the previous months hit her; all the places she had been but couldn't remember. She'd never stopped wandering, and so hadn't found the home she'd been looking for.
"Is there room in your herd for another?" She was ready to stay still, despite not knowing much about Dragon's Throat. Perhaps its herd was what she had been searching for. Perhaps in Onni and her bird Lyhty, she would find friendship.

The mare became less nervous as Onni divulged personal information about herself, which made the tobiano happy. At least she had a chance of making the mare a friend, now that she did not appear to be threatened by the presence of the pegasus and her winged friend. Lyhty had noticed the change in disposition in the black mare, as well, and took comfort. Slowly, the bird crept closer to the edge of his bonded's shoulder, before finally losing space enough to stand.
Fluttering his wings to remain airborne, the finch flies steadily closer to the black mare to investigate for himself, while Onni stays intent on the conversation.
"There is plenty of room for another," Onni smiled, happy that she had asked. "I would like to officially invite you to become a member of the herd." Of course, should the Pegasus invasion force target the Throat later, the pegasus mare would vouch for this girl to stay. She seemed innocent and quite nice, and, the pegasus mare noticed, a tad lonely.

As they spoke, Daen grew more comfortable around Onni and Lyhty. The finch as well grew more confident and comfortable in approaching her - the little bird had flown from Onni's shoulder to the space around Daenerys. As he fluttered steadily closer, she felt herself under inspection. His growing acceptance of her was flattering, his small presence somehow soothing.
"I would love to be a part of your herd," she returned Onni's smile and shook out the heavy wetness in her tail, from standing in the waterhole. "Can you lead me there?" In asking, she felt a weight lift from her chest, left there since her born herd had disbanded.

"We will lead the way," the painted mare said happily, looking toward Lyhty with a smile. Turning back toward the direction she entered from, the red, white, and black bird flew out ahead, not too far to keep from danger. Onni glanced over her shoulder, to make sure that Daenerys made it safely out of the water and toward the shore, before starting off at a casual walk toward the Throat.
After all, they were no longer in Isilme. There was no rush to get home before the veil of night fell upon them.
ooc; this is a pretty lame reply, sorry. Just wanted to get it up for you before I disappear this weekend. I can start a thread for her in the Throat when I get home, if you'd like, or possibly tomorrow morning sometimes. ^^
